He pai (the good) oil

As a Pharmacist, I am forever telling patients that Omega 6 is the bad oil due to the fact that it increases inflammation. Hemp seed oil does contain omega 6, however, most of the omega 6 is made up of something called Gamma-Linoleic Acid or GLA. What’s interesting here; is that GLA, even though it’s omega 6, is actually anti-inflammatory. This is due to dietary GLA increasing D-GLA (the anti-inflammatory compound) in white blood cells. White blood cells lack the enzyme which converts D-GLA to arachidonic acid (the inflammatory omega 6), therefore the overall effect of consuming (or applying) GLA results in reduced inflammation. How good!

So what does this mean for you? Although we cannot promote hemp seed oil, or GLA for its anti-inflammatory effects; there is much anecdotal evidence for it supporting people with the following inflammatory conditions:

  • PMS (GLA can balance hormonal health)
  • ADHD
  • Breast Pain
  • Diabetes and diabetic neuropathy
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Obesity
  • Rheumatoid arthritis (in rats)
  • Skin allergies (Christchurch whānau affected by chlorine!)

There have been no, peer-reviewed randomised controlled trials performed on our hemp seed oil (sorry, we are not a filthy rich multi-national corportation) but the stories we have heard from people using our product have been positive and therefore I have confidence in it.

All of this, is before we have mentioned that hemp seed oil also contains the much acclaimed omega 3 essential fatty acids. Beefy Green Hemp Seed Oil is the best plant-based source of Omega 3 available. Omega 3 (generally from fish oil) has been promoted for heart and brain health for decades but now you can increase your omega 3 intake, without negatively affecting our marine life. This is one of our core values here at Beefy Green - Improving not only the health of ourselves, but that of our planet too!

In my opinion, you’d be crazy not to start incorporating Beefy Green Hemp Seed Oil into your daily diet.
