Hemp seeds have the perfect ratio of essential fatty acids omega 3 to omega 6 (1:3) and are a complete protein, one of the only plant sources of all 22 amino acids and the ONLY plant to contain all 9 essential amino acids which, combined with the dietary fibres, are easier to digest than other plant-based proteins. It doesn't stop here! Hemp seeds are high in minerals like Potassium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, Copper, Manganese and are also a source of Vitamin E and the B complex vitamins. Do we need to keep going? HEMP SEEDS ARE NATURES MOST NUTRIENT-DENSE SEEDS.
The Beefy Green boys are stoked to team up with the Two Raw Sisters who have a strong focus on educating people on how easy, sustainable, delicious, and health-enhancing plant based foods can be for them both mentally and physically. Margo and Rosa have developed some hemp seed recipes for us.
Beefy Green Hemp Falafels
1 can chickpeas
4 garlic cloves
½ white onion
2 Tbsp sesame seeds
1 ½ tsp cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika
2 Tbsp Beefy Green hemp protein
Sea salt + pepper
Add chickpeas, parsley, onion, garlic, sesame seeds, cumin, paprika & salt, pepper to a food processor and pulse until well combined. Add 1 Tbsp of flour at a time and mix to combine until no longer wet and can easily mold into a ball (~4Tbsp).
Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Transfer to a mixing bowl and cover for about 1 hour to firm- if time.
Heat a pan over medium heat and add enough oil to generously coat the pan (~2 Tbsp). Once hot add the falafels and cook for 4-5mins, flipping them halfway.
Peanut Butter Beefy Green Hemp Balls
½ cup dates, soaked in boiling water for ~5mins
½ cup rolled oats
3 Tbsp Peanut Butter
4 Tbsp cacao powder
¼ cup Beefy Green Hemp Protein
2 Tbsp water
¼ cup dried fruit (goji berries, raisins, figs, apricots)
Mix all ingredients in a food processor, be sure to add the cacao at the end.
Roll into bite- sized balls
Beefy Green Hemp Hummus
Serve with fresh bread / bark
2 x 400g cans of chickpeas
4 tsp tahini
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tsp sea salt
6 tbsp Beefy Green Hemp Seed Oil (plus extra for drizzling)
3½ tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tsp Paprika
2 tsp cumin
Rinse the chickpeas in water and tip into the food processor. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Drizzle with some more extra Beefy Green Hemp Oil. Top with some fresh herbs and paprika.
Beefy Green Vegan Hemp Aioli
- Add the aquafaba, vinegar, mustard and salt to a bowl and blitz for a second with an immersion blender so everything is combined.
- Keep the immersion blender running constantly and VERY slowly drizzle in the oil, making sure it is fully combined as you go. If you add it too fast, the whole thing will turn liquidy and isn't redeemable. If you find you're getting a bit of oil on the top, stop adding the oil and just blend for a little while before continuing.
- The mayonnaise will suddenly turn thick. Once all the oil is combined and thoroughly mixed. Add in the lemon juice and garlic and mix thoroughly.
Store the plant based mayonnaise in the fridge for up to 7 days in a sealed container. Best eaten on the 2nd day after the garlic has had a chance to infuse.

Hemp milk is made by simply blending hemp hearts and water with any variation of water to hemp hearts changing the creaminess of the milk.
The more hemp hearts to water the creamier it will get. For a typical milk consistency 1/4 cup of hemp hearts with 1 cup of water is ideal.
Mixing times vary depending on preference but 2 mins in a nutri bullet should do the trick. The longer the blending the smoother the milk will get. If your making your hemp protein shake use the simple hemp milk as your base and add your usual hemp protein and ingredients for an even more nutritious & creamy smoothie
Simple hemp milk
1/4 cup of our NZ Hemp Hearts
1 cup water
Pinch of rock salt
2-3 ice cubes
Blend all ingredients in a blender until well combined. Add any additional flavourings of your choice. Pour milk in a glass jar or bottle and store in the fridge. Will keep for 5/6 days.
